WSL, Microsoft's WINDOWS SUBSYSTEM FOR LINUX, is a platform allowing Linux distros to be installed and run in windows 10 & up. It's a standard part of windows but not installed by default. You'll find Microsoft's install instructions at
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/installFollowing these simple instructions leads to a running Ubuntu Linux system you can start and run in/on your window desktop.
If you're not a Ubuntu fan (I'm not) you can use the "wsl --list --online" command to find other available distros, and "wsl --install xxxxxx" to install the one you select. There are lots of other WSL commands you can use to customize the environment, see "wsl --help".
Once you have your favorite Linux running in WSL you can install VAM as per the preceding Linux install instructions.
